MOTORSPORT – Team Bahrain karters Vedant Menon and Mohammed Alhasan both finished in the top eight yesterday of the E20 Senior qualifying heats as the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals (RMCGF) 2025 continued at Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC) in Sakhir.
Vedant was ranked third overall after two hotly contested sessions in this stage, while Mohammed was seventh.
They were both in the top four in yesterday’s second E20 Senior qualifying heat, with Vedant taking third place 5.296 seconds behind race winner Jannik Jakobs from Germany, and Mohammed claiming fourth 5.694s back.
Vedant collected 41 points with his classification yesterday to go to a total of 75 from the two qualifying heats, earning him third on the grid in this evening’s E20 Senior pre-final.
Mohammed went to 62 points after scoring 38 yesterday to secure seventh in the starting order.
Team Bahrain’s Yousif Alaali also had a strong showing in the qualifying heats. He was 18th in yesterday’s concluding session to total 51 points for 13th on the pre-final’s start grid.
Jannik grabbed the E20 Senior pole with 100 points, while starting alongside him on the front row will be Levente Simon from Bulgaria, who finished just three points ahead of Vedant.
The results of today’s pre-finals in all of the RMCGF’s eight categories will set the grids for tomorrow’s finals on the concluding day of the week-long meeting, which features nearly 400 karters representing 60 nations from around the world.
Elsewhere yesterday amongst Team Bahrain’s competitors, young Tariq Soofi ranked 13th in the Micro MAX qualifying heats with a total of 49 points.
He was classified 16th in yesterday’s second session in his class, and will start just outside of the first 10 in this evening’s pre-final.
In the Mini MAX category, which featured three sessions in the qualifying heats, Shaikh Ahmed bin Saqer Al Khalifa placed 25th overall with 73 points, while Jude Andrews was 42nd with 47 points.
The 72-karter Mini MAX field will be divided into A and B races for today’s pre-finals.
Shaikh Ahmed will be in the A event where he will start from 13th on the grid, while Jude will be in 21st to begin pre-final B.
In the Junior MAX category, Demir Abali and Rashid Hilal were 63rd and 70th, respectively, after three qualifying heats.
Demir finished this stage with 26 points and will start from 32nd in the A pre-final tonight, while Rashid scored 15 points and will be in 35th on the B grid.
Team Bahrain’s Tye Mejia in the Senior MAX class placed a solid 25th at the end of three sessions in his qualifying heats.
Mejia scored 68 points and will be competing in the A pre-final this evening, where he will start from 13th on the grid.
In the DD2 category, Team Bahrain’s Abdulla Sajjad ranked 46th while Abdulqader Qasem was 66th at the end of the qualifying heats.
Sajjad came away with 42 points from this phase’s three races, while Qasem finished with 21 points.
Both karters are set to compete in today’s DD2 B pre-final, where Sajjad will start from 23rd and Qasem from 33rd.
Aside from the aforementioned classes, there is also racing in this year’s RMCGF in the E20 Master and DD2 Master categories.
All are welcome to attend the last two days of racing today and tomorrow and enjoy the incredible wheel-to-wheel battles at BIKC.
Entry is free and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. BIKC will be opening its gates to fans at 4.30pm today and at 10am tomorrow.
They will remain open until the end of track activity on both days.
