The Saudi Climbing and Hiking Federation, under the supervision of the Ministry of Sport branch in Najran Region and in cooperation with public and private entities, organised a mountain hike in Wadi Mughaydid (Shaib Mughaydid) to mark International Mountain Day. Sixty people participated in the hike.
The activity aimed to introduce participants to the region’s mountain environment and maintain ecological balance. It also encouraged visitors to natural areas and mountain hiking enthusiasts to protect the environment, under the slogan “Leave No Trace.”
Hiking is a sport focused on mountain and nature walks. Groups of walking and climbing enthusiasts follow a mapped route with a specialised guide to forested or rugged mountain areas of natural beauty far from crowded cities.
A Saudi Press Agency (SPA) camera accompanied the hiking team on its journey through unspoiled nature along the Wadi Mughaydid trail. Several enthusiasts joined the trip, which was led by a select group of guides.
