Video game designer Vince Zampella, co-creator of 'Call of Duty', has died in a car crash in Los Angeles, California.
The 55-year-old and another unidentified individual were in a red Ferrari SF90, which veered off the road before crashing into a concrete barrier and catching fire. Both passengers were killed in the accident.
Zampella was one of the most beloved figures in the gaming world. He created the successful gaming franchise Call of Duty, alongside long-time collaborators Jason West and Grant Collier, in 2003.
He co-founded Chatsworth-based Respawn Entertainment in 2010. The studio was acquired by video game giant EA in 2017. Respawn Entertainment is best known for the video games 'Titanfall', 'Titanfall 2', 'Apex Legends' and 'STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order'.
Zampella recently led an EA studio team based in Playa Vista behind the popular 'Battlefield' video game franchise.
