The highly-anticipated Toyota GR Yaris, a masterpiece inspired by the triumphs of the FIA World Rally Championship, has arrived in Bahrain – courtesy of Ebrahim K Kanoo (EKK), the sole distributor of Toyota vehicles in the kingdom.
Launched in Japan in 2020, the model contains an Aero Performance Package, and has been developed to elevate aerodynamic efficiency, cooling performance and driving stability.
It is available in Platinum White Pearl Mica, Super White II, Precious Black, Precious Metal and Emotional Red, with two sporty interiors options of either black and red, or full black.
EKK executive sales general manager Ismail Akbar has invited drivers to become part of a new era for the popular Yaris, one where ever-better cars come from never-ending change.
“We are delighted to introduce the Toyota GR Yaris to Bahrain,” said Mr Akbar.
“This model truly embodies Toyota’s philosophy of bringing motorsport technology to everyday roads.
“The GR Yaris is more than a new vehicle, it delivers an exceptional driving experience that reflects performance passion, precision, and the true spirit of GR – qualities we are confident will resonate with sports car enthusiasts across the kingdom.”
Each vehicle is carefully assembled at the GR FACTORY production line within Toyota’s renowned Motomachi Plant by a team of takumi (master craftspeople) who uphold the brand’s highest standards of precision and performance.
Developed through extensive driver feedback and refined through competitions across the world, the new GR Yaris combines motorsport-proven engineering with precision-tuned aerodynamics.
Power comes from a 1.6-litre inline three-cylinder direct-injection G16E-GTS turbo engine, producing 296 HP and 400 Nm of torque.
It is paired with either a newly developed eight-speed Automatic Transmission model, or a six-speed intelligent manual transmission that provide quick, accurate shifts and a direct, connected driving feel.
The GR-FOUR includes a full-time 4WD (four-wheel drive) system, featuring an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch and three selectable modes, which continuously balances torque between the front and rear wheels to maximise traction and cornering stability on diverse road surfaces.
Drivers can enjoy peace of mind thanks to Toyota Safety Sense, a comprehensive suite of safety and driver-assistance technologies designed to support driving in all conditions.
The system includes six SRS airbags, a Pre-Collision System, Emergency Steering Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control System, Lane Departure Alert with Emergency Steering Assist, Lane Trace Assist, and an Adaptive High-beam System for enhanced visibility at night.
Additionally, it has a Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert with auto brake to help prevent collisions when reversing, and an Emergency eCall system that is available in some markets, which automatically alerts emergency services in the event of a serious accident.
Other safety technologies include Hill-start Assist Control, Vehicle Stability Control, Anti-lock Braking System with Brake Assist, and a Tyre Pressure Warning System.
