CHESS – THE Riffa Views School Inter-Schools Chess Championship got underway in a highly competitive atmosphere with 52 students, representing 13 schools, taking part.
The event was attended by officials from the participating schools.
The results of the first round were as follows: Riffa Views School won against the French School 4–0; the New Indian School won against the Canadian School 4–0; Bayan Bahrain School won against Creativity Private School 4–0; Modern Knowledge Schools drew with St Christopher’s School with 2 points each and Ibn Khuldoon National School defeated Al Naseem School 3–1.
The championship was organised by an experienced team and arbiters, including internationally rated and veteran chess players like Dr Bassem Karim, Ziad Janahi, Basel Karim, Mustafa Salah, coach Arjuns, Anthony Playa, and Jamal Abdulghaffar.
The event reflected exceptional enthusiasm among the participants, including boys and girls, and strong engagement from the host school, highlighting the importance and diversity of after class activities that complement the academic curriculum.
