FOOTBALL – MUHARRAQ secured a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Al Najma in a ninth round game of the Nasser Bin Hamad Premier League 2025-2026 at Bahrain National Stadium.
Arthur Rezende opened the scoring in the 24th minute, while Junior da Costa added the second goal in the 53rd minute.
With this win, Muharraq raised their tally to 20 points to move into second place in the overall standings, while Al Najma’s points total remained unchanged at nine.
In another match in the same round, Sitra regained their winning form after edging past Al Ahli 2-1 at Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium.
Moroccan player Yassine Chamakhi gave Sitra the lead in the 18th minute before Frenchman Kari Kari doubled the advantage with the second goal in the 33rd minute.
In the second half, Al Ahli reduced the deficit through Sayed Mahdi Sharaf, who scored his team’s lone goal in the 52nd minute.
As a result, Sitra raised their points total to 10, while Al Ahli remained on 11 points.
