In an achievement reflecting the increasing prominence of Bahraini women leaders on the regional and international maritime stage, Bahrain Ship Repairing and Engineering Company (BASREC) human resources and corporate services chief executive and acting chief executive officer Narjis Almoosawi received the Women Leaders in Shipping Award.
The award was presented during the Saudi Maritime Awards ceremony held in Jeddah recently. The event brought together senior executives, decision-makers and maritime industry experts from Saudi Arabia and internationally.
This recognition acknowledges the significant leadership roles and contributions of women in the maritime and shipping sectors, highlighting leaders who drive institutional transformation, enhance operational performance and support sustainable growth within one of the region’s most strategic industries.
BASREC board chairman Fawzi Kanoo stated that the award reflects the high level of professional competence demonstrated by Bahraini talent and their ability to compete and excel at both regional and international levels.
He noted that Ms Almoosawi’s achievement represents a leadership model that integrates strategic direction with operational effectiveness. Mr Kanoo further emphasised that this accomplishment aligns with BASREC’s continued efforts to enhance its institutional framework and adopt internationally recognised best practices in management and operations, thereby reinforcing the company’s position as a leading regional centre for ship repair and marine engineering services.
