Dubai Police officers from an electric scooter patrol unit chased down and arrested three suspects accused of stealing AED190,000 (approx. BD19,500) and recovered the full amount within four minutes of receiving the report.
Authorities received a theft report from the Naif area in Dubai's Deira district, immediately sharing descriptions of the suspects with nearby patrol units.
An electric scooter patrol reached the scene within two minutes. Officers quickly fanned out to search the surrounding area and arrested all three suspects within another two minutes, recovering the stolen cash from their possession.
Brigadier Omar Mousa Ashour, Director of Naif Police Station, said the rapid arrest and recovery highlighted the effectiveness of electric scooter patrols, particularly in areas with heavy pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
The smaller vehicles allow officers to navigate quickly through busy markets and narrow lanes where patrol cars struggle to pass.
