His Majesty King Hamad yesterday participated in marine sports on the occasion of Bahrain Sports Day, underscoring its importance in promoting sport as a way of life and reinforcing values of belonging and pride in national identity.
His Majesty expressed his pleasure at joining in marine sport, noting that sea-based activities have long been regarded by the people of Bahrain as a traditional and widely practised sport.
His Majesty affirmed that the Bahrain archipelago is endowed with abundant marine resources that support sport, livelihoods and the national economy, including pearls and fish stocks. Exploring, developing and investing in these resources in the near future would serve the best interests of Bahrain and its people, he emphasised.
His Majesty’s participation highlights his ongoing commitment to fostering a culture of sport across all segments of society, encouraging citizens and residents to adopt healthy lifestyles and benefit from the kingdom’s rich natural resources, thereby enhancing quality of life, positivity and national cohesion.
