New amendments to civil service laws in Kuwait have introduced mandatory military service for 18-year-old male citizens, effective from today.
Under the new legislation, all male citizens must present themselves for military service within 180 days of their 18th birthday. The rule applies to individuals born on or after January 1, 2012.
The law aims to address gaps in Kuwait’s national defence and ensure personal readiness. Furthermore, applications for government positions will now require a military service certificate. Candidates who hold this certificate will be given preference over those who do not.
