A search has been launched for a missing dashing Doberman dog who run off as his owner was parking her car in a garage where he had been sleeping.
The perfect pincher called Chef, described as ‘goofy’ and ‘incredibly friendly’, may get frightened and distressed by the wailing of sirens and explosions in the night.
According to Malaysian expatriate and distraught owner Jocelyn Koay, her much-loved red and rust coloured microchipped pet has been missing since Wednesday and, it appears, someone may have taken him in for safe keeping.
“We really do not know what to do next and can only hope that Chef returns very soon,” she said. “We are much attached to him as he has been with us since he was a new-born puppy.”
Chef was the offspring of their late pair of Doberman pets and the family members are dedicated lovers of the breed.
A search party of friends and well-wishers have been driving around Shahkhura, where Ms Koay lives, and the surrounding area.
Recounting the timeline of sightings by members of the community, the 34-year-old photographer noted that some of their neighbours had spotted Chef near Awal Dairy, heading towards Country Mall in Budaiya, around noon on March 11.
Then, at 3pm, someone spotted him near Ruyan pharmacy, followed by 4pm at Burgerland restaurant, both in Budaiya.
“We followed up the leads and searched until midnight but there were no signs of him. We resumed our searches yesterday from Burgerland to Diraz and asked people along the way.
“That is when we came across a fruit vendor, who told us that he had seen someone on a scooter, heading towards the Country Club near Budaiya, put a leash on Chef and take him. We were notified that this happened before iftar time,” she added.
The family says it will leave no stone unturned to look for four-year-old Chef and they are hoping that the person who may have taken him in will return him soon.
If he is still on the loose he will be hungry and lonely by this time.
