Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani received Zhai Jun, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue at the Ministry’s headquarters, on the occasion of his visit to Bahrain.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the longstanding and close relations of friendship between Bahrain and China.
They also discussed the latest developments in the region, including the continued Iranian attacks on Bahrain and the GCC member states and the resulting human and material losses, as well as their implications for regional security and stability, energy security, maritime navigation, and international trade.
They further discussed avenues for joint co-operation and co-ordination between the two friendly countries through their membership in the United Nations Security Council regarding regional and international issues under discussion by the Council, with a view to preserving international peace and security.
The meeting was attended by Bilateral Relations Director-General Ambassador Shaikh Abdulla bin Ali Al Khalifa; Co-ordination and Follow-up Sector head Ambassador Saeed Abdulkhaleq Saeed; and Ministry’s Asian Affairs Sector acting head Ambassador Mohammed Al Suwaidi.
