The Supreme Council for Women (SCW), in co-operation with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), announced that the third edition of the Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Global Award for Women’s Empowerment received 1,774 entries from countries worldwide.
The total number of submissions, recorded by the March 20 deadline, exceeded the combined total of previous editions, which stood at 571 entries.
According to UN Women data, the first edition received 612 entries and the second 591.
Civil society organisations accounted for the highest number of submissions with 792 entries, followed by individuals with 621, the private sector with 257, and the public sector with 104.
Entries from individuals, civil society, and the public sector surpassed figures recorded in the previous edition.
The next phase will involve screening and evaluation of submissions in co-ordination with an international judging panel, in line with the work plan managed by UN Women.
