I read that our MPs are seeking to curb driving licences for expatriates.
As an elderly Bahraini, I congratulate them on such an innovative idea.
May this old man further dare to suggest that they amend their proposal to include a ban on the sale of cars to expatriates as well.
However, it remains unclear whether this proposal applies selectively or to expatriates of all nationalities alike.
Secondly, these people should not blame this old man for failing to caution them that, in such a scenario, the influential public relations machinery of car showrooms could play a pivotal role in the next election, ensuring that such wisdom does not earn them a further term in office!
Thirdly, while the proposal by the MPs may be aimed at addressing the growing traffic problem, may this old man humbly suggest that they go a step further by banning expatriates who already possess cars and licences from using the main highways, confining them instead to secondary roads.
