The High Criminal Court has sentenced a woman to life imprisonment for collaborating with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The defendant was found guilty of using social media to share coordinates and images of vital sites in Bahrain to facilitate hostile acts.
The details of the case date back to a report received by the Public Prosecution from the Cybercrime Unit of the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security.
The report stated that, as part of the monitoring and surveillance activities undertaken by the Directorate, an online account was detected publishing images and coordinates of important and vital sites and facilities within Bahrain on a social media platform.
The monitoring also revealed that the account was publishing content that could harm Bahrain's military, political, and economic standing, in addition to glorifying, encouraging, and promoting Iranian aggression against the country.
The investigation led to the identification of the account's user.
