The High Criminal Court has sentenced two defendants to life imprisonment and a fine of 10,000 dinars for spying for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The case involved a plot to monitor vital installations in Bahrain and carry out hostile terrorist operations to destabilise national security.
The first defendant, based in Iran, recruited the second defendant in Bahrain to manage the transport of funds and provide intelligence to Iranian agencies.
Investigations by the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation indicate that the operations were funded by the IRGC to support local terrorist elements.
The court ordered the confiscation of all seized items and affirmed that the trial was conducted with full legal guarantees and defence representation.
