Through an Asianet News report, I recently came across the painful story of a helpless family from Kozhinjampara in Palakkad, Kerala, India.
The head of the family was seriously ill and unable to work. For his medical treatment, the family had taken a loan of Rs1.5 lakh (BD600 approximately) from a Co-operative Bank. Due to severe financial difficulties, they failed to repay the instalments, resulting in their hut and small piece of land coming under revenue recovery proceedings.
In their distress, the family approached the sub-inspector of Kozhinjampara Police Station, Mr George K P, and explained their situation. Displaying remarkable compassion and humanity, the officer, with the support of his schoolmates and college mates, managed to arrange financial assistance and regularised the bank loan.
However, the family still faced another major problem – they had no proper house to live in. Their two daughters, studying in grades 12 and eight, were continuing their education under extremely difficult circumstances.
Understanding their suffering, Mr George approached Pambavasan Nair, a businessman and community leader based in Bahrain. Without any delay, through his charitable organisation, CSM Trust, Mr Nair generously agreed to construct a house for the family and also support the educational expenses of both children.
Such acts of kindness and social commitment deserve wide appreciation and recognition.
In a world where many people ignore the struggles of the poor, individuals like Mr Nair stand as shining examples of humanity and compassion.
I would like to express my heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to Mr Nair for his noble humanitarian support.
May God bless him abundantly and inspire many others to come forward to help the needy.
