Renewed call to replace Al Luzi Lake with homes
Removing the only natural lake in the country is ridiculous. There must be other ways to cull the mosquitoes and make it flood proof.
@sirshannoncrockett
It’s disappointing to see elected officials playing on locals’ emotions by promising social housing. Bahrain’s only natural lake is a legally protected habitat, not a construction site. We need creative solutions to fix the flooding and mosquitoes, not another step toward destroying the environment.
@heshamalhaddad
Surely it’s cheaper to rehabilitate it than build hundreds of homes.
@hashtagmaher
It feels like the people behind this proposal are trying to manipulate the emotions of locals by dangling the promise of new social housing. While housing is undeniably important, they should know better – Bahrain’s ONLY natural lake is a legally protected environmental habitat.
Instead of paving over our limited natural spaces and turning Bahrain into a concrete jungle, we need genuinely creative, sustainable solutions to fix the local complaints about mosquitoes and flooding. Let’s protect our environment, not destroy it!

Sadly, I have to agree with them on this.

Action sought against shops goofing up signs and menus
There’s no excuse for it. Google. ChatGPT. Locals. Mistakes may be made but some of this is elementary.
@teacher_samara
What if whoever wrote it was deslexic (I still can’t spell it right, sorry)
@itslaithh
Also, whoever types them out for shops and restaurants, needs to proof read and people with knowledge of Arabic and English should be hired for the job.
English-Arabic errors in menus are more common than we know.

There are several company owners who are entitled to pay the salary structure along with the service amount, many of them have been forced to leave the country.
There is no one to look after them, or to supervise them.
