A woman who said she was following GPS directions accidentally drove her SUV onto the elevated light rail tracks near Mount Baker Station on Tuesday, June 2, causing a significant disruption to transit services.
According to Seattle police, the 70-year-old driver became stranded on the southbound guideway after entering the rail corridor. Officials quickly arrived at the scene to secure the area and remove the vehicle.

Authorities said the driver did not appear to be intoxicated but seemed confused, and investigators believe she may have been experiencing a medical emergency and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. She was reported to be in stable condition.
The incident disrupted 1 Line light rail services as crews worked to remove the vehicle. Transit officials stated that the vehicle was removed without causing damage to the rail infrastructure.
The agency is also investigating how the driver gained access to the elevated rail corridor.
No arrests were made, and the incident remains under review.
