Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani highlighted the role of Bahraini women in diplomacy, describing them as key partners in promoting peace, dialogue, mutual understanding and multilateral co-operation in support of Bahrain’s foreign policy priorities and humanitarian values under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
On the occasion of the International Day for Women in Diplomacy, the Foreign Minister extended congratulations to Bahrain’s leadership and to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty and Supreme Council for Women (SCW) president.
Dr Al Zayani praised the achievements of Bahraini women in diplomacy and national development, attributing their progress to the kingdom’s leadership, government policies, and the initiatives of the SCW.
He noted that women comprise around 37 per cent of his ministry’s workforce and 38pc of Bahrain’s diplomatic corps.
He highlighted the election of Shaikha Haya bint Rashid Al Khalifa as the first Arab and Muslim woman to serve as president of the United Nations General Assembly.
He also noted their contributions to international initiatives that promote coexistence, tolerance and women’s empowerment, including the Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Global Award for Women’s Empowerment.
