Bahrain is committed to advancing digital innovation and strengthening its technological infrastructure, it has been stressed.
This aims to further reinforce the kingdom’s position as a regional hub for technology and artificial intelligence, Bahrain’s Ambassador to the United States Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa said yesterday.
Shaikh Abdulla, along with Prime Minister’s Office director general Hamad Yaqoub Al Mahmeed, were represented Bahrain at the Pax Silica Summit in Washington, DC.
Launched by the United States last year, the Pax Silica initiative aims to strengthen the critical supply chains underpinning the artificial intelligence economy, spanning semiconductors, critical minerals, energy and digital infrastructure.
The summit brought together policymakers, experts and chief executives from leading technology, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity companies from around the world.
He also highlighted the importance of the declaration in supporting international efforts to shape the future of advanced technologies.
The Bahraini delegation attended the signing ceremony of the AI Opportunity Declaration, endorsed by 35 countries. The declaration promotes a regulatory approach that supports innovation and growth while strengthening critical supply chains and advancing the infrastructure required for artificial intelligence, including computing capacity, energy, semiconductor production and talent development.
It also encourages greater private sector investment in the AI ecosystem.
On the sidelines of the summit, the Bahraini delegation held bilateral meetings with senior officials and heads of participating delegations to discuss opportunities to expand technology co-operation, exchange expertise and attract high-value investments to the kingdom.
