BASKETBALL – BAHRAIN return to action today in the 23rd Arab Youth Men’s Basketball Championship 2026, currently being held in Sfax, Tunisia.
The kingdom’s youth men’s national team take on their counterparts from Morocco in a crucial clash at Sfax’s Raed Al Bawaji Hall. The game is scheduled for a 1pm tip-off, Bahrain time, and it will be the Bahrainis’ penultimate fixture of the preliminary phase.
Both the Bahrainis and Moroccans are currently in the top three on the tournament standings. The nationals, still undefeated, first beat Algeria and then ousted hosts Tunisia before winning big against Libya.
Following their clash today, Bahrain complete their campaign in this stage against Egypt tomorrow at 3.15pm, also Bahrain time. The Egyptians are also presently unbeaten after three fixtures.
At the end of this single round-robin, the top two teams on the standings will face off for the gold medals on Saturday, while the third and fourth-ranked squads will compete for bronze the same day.
Bahrain, coached by Salman Ramadhan, are competing in Sfax as part of their programme ahead of the Gulf Basketball Association U18 Championship 2026, set to be held in Doha, Qatar from July 17 to 22.
