The Ras Al Khaimah Criminal Court has sentenced a Yemeni man to death after he was found guilty of murdering a mother and her two daughters. The man was convicted of intentional murder, attempted murder and issuing death threats.
The fatal shooting occurred in May 2025 when an argument over a blocked driveway escalated, leading the 56-year-old convict to use a vehicle and an illegal firearm in the attack. The three victims were identified in court only as a mother, aged 66, and her two daughters, aged 36 and 38. A third daughter, 47, survived the assault.
According to Maher Wafai, whose mother and two sisters were killed, the attack occurred when the gunman, who was their neighbour, became enraged over someone blocking the driveway to his house.
The 36-year-old sister went outside to move the vehicle. “She went to the car to give him more space, when he ran over her,” Mr Wafai said. “He then stepped out with a gun and shot her. I don’t know what happened and what he was thinking in that moment."
Mr Wafai's 38-year-old sister then rushed outside, and the gunman shot her as well. When their mother followed to confront the attacker, he shot her in the head.
The police arrived within minutes and arrested the Yemeni national. The 38-year-old sister was taken to hospital, where she fought for her life for four days before succumbing to her injuries.
