GULFWEEKLY: Environmental activist and author Suren Abreu’s new book Earth: A Still, Small Voice is now on shelves, writes Kawthar Ebrahim.
The 308-page paperback challenges readers to confront the devastating consequences of human neglect on the planet. It recognises Earth as the human race’s true home, urging humanity to do everything in its power to preserve it. Blending humour and environmental awareness as fictional stories, it is ‘a spiritual guide’ focused on the philosophy: if we quieten ourselves, the still, small voice of Earth speaks to us.
“This publication is the fruit of nine years of writing monthly articles,” Suren, who is a microbiologist, told GulfWeekly.
“There is one chapter in particular, Phantasmagoria, which drops us into an adventure of horror – a brief experience of what animals undergo at the often callous, very often brutal hands of humans,” added the Indian talent.
Exploring burning issues like animal rights, pollution, deforestation and human impact, the book will introduce readers to fantastical tales, which Suren hopes will inspire them to make tangible changes. Whether that means reducing fuel consumption, cutting down on food waste, or simply advocating online or in the streets.
