BOWLING – Defending champions Riffa claimed a crucial 6-2 (2,559-2,481) victory against title challengers Bahrain Club in a top-of-the-table clash that headlined week 11 of the 2026 Bahrain Bowling League, being played at Funland Centre.
All three games in the match-up were hard-fought, with Riffa taking the first two and also claiming the extra two points on totals.
They opened the contest with an 830-808 triumph in game one, which they followed with a 915-834 win in the second.
Bahrain Club were able to salvage a game, however, taking the third 839-814 for their only two points of the night.
Fawaz Abdulla was red hot for Riffa, scoring the week’s high series of 741 pins, which included games of 250, 257, and 234.
Ali Almass added 624 and JM Villanueva 616 for the winners, while Ahmed Algoud chipped in with a 578 total.
Aqeel Alawadhi had a valiant 702 effort for Bahrain Club while Abdulla Abdulkarim contributed 664 pins.
Ahmed Fareed and Emerson Gotencio completed their line-up with 571 and 544 scores, respectively.
The result maintained Riffa’s four-point gap atop the standings from the rest of the pack with only three matchweeks remaining in league play.
Their closest challengers are now Um Al Hassam after Bahrain Club dropped to third place.
Um Al Hassam enjoyed an 8-0 (2,433-1,966) rout of Busaiteen in their outing of the 11th week, helping them climb the ladder.
They took all three games with scores of 860-577, 788-679, and 785-710 to complete their sweep of the points.
Issa Khaled led a consistent performance from his squad with 614 pins.
Ahmed Alansari added 11, while Rashed Aldalhan scored 606 and Talal Alabdulla 602.
Yousif Alali led Busaiteen in the loss with 522 pins.
They stayed in the bottom half of the eight-team table in fifth place.
Meanwhile, last-placed Isa Town came away with a rare 8-0 (2,107-1,876) triumph against Sanad.
They won the three games 705-629, 647-582, and 755-665, with Abdulla Almurbati finishing as their leading scorer on 577 pins.
Mohammed Hasan scored 535 while Talal Yousif added 505 and Isa Akbar 490.
Sayed Moosa was the high scorer for Sanad at 491 pins.
Elsewhere in week 11, Al Ettifaq narrowly overcame Al Hala 6-2 (2,194-2,140).
They took the first two games 672-656 and 823-763, but Hala closed strong with a 721-699 result in the third.
Hussain Abdulkarim’s team-best 606 series helped Ettifaq claim the extra two points on totals.
Teammates Hussain Ahmed and Mohammed Khalil chipped in with 561 and 540 scores, respectively.
Abdulla Bahar paced Hala with 590 pins in the loss, while Ayoob Hasan contributed 554.
