HORSERACING – VICTORIOUS Forever horses powered to a sensational double victory last night in a pair of international horseraces held in Britain.
Shadow Brigade won the Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap at Doncaster Racecourse, while Hulk Power took first place in the Download The At The Races App ‘Confined’ Maiden Stakes at Southwell Racecourse.
Their triumphs were the latest in a series of outstanding results this European horseracing season for the Victorious Forever stable, owned by His Majesty King Hamad’s humanitarian work and youth affairs representative, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman, and Bahrain Royal Endurance Team captain Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Shadow Brigade won his 11-furlong event for trainer George Scott with jockey Liam Wright in the saddle.
The three-year-old bay gelding was held up in last place at the start but steadily made his way to the front. Shadow Brigade then powered ahead over the final furlong and maintained his stride towards the finish. He won by a half-length’s margin from runner-up Saxophonist, competing for owners Hambleton Racing Liv and Partner, trainer David O’Meara, and jockey Callum Rodriguez. Brighlee finished third for Georginio Rutter, David Menuisier, and Jack Callan.
Meanwhile, Hulk Power took his victory over seven furlongs for trainer Roger Varian while ridden by jockey Sean D Bowen.
The three-year-old chestnut colt was in touch with the leaders to begin his race before taking the lead inside the final furlong. Hulk Power eventually did enough to power past the finish line in first, winning by just a neck ahead of Foxy Night in second place, racing for Newtown Anner Stud Farm Ltd, John Butler, and Mikey Sheehy. Burning Impact completed the top three for owners Valmont and M Biencowe, trainer Ralph Beckett, and jockey Hector Crouch.
