MOTORSPORT – Bahraini-British motor racing team 2 Seas Motorsport return to action in the 2026 GT World Challenge (GTWC) Europe this weekend in the season’s sixth round at Magny-Cours, France.
2 Seas head into the sprint meeting with their two-car entry. The event will be headlined by two one-hour races, to be held Saturday and Sunday.
2 Seas will be hitting the tarmac with the duo of Dani Juncadella and Jules Gounon in their number three Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo car, which they operate in collaboration with Team Verstappen Racing, owned by four-time Formula One world champion Max Verstappen.
Their number 222 car will be driven by the tandem of Charles Dawson and Kiern Jewiss, who spearheaded 2 Seas to the teams’ and drivers’ title-double last season in the British GT Championship, before moving over to the GTWC Europe for 2026.
Juncadella and Gounon are competing this weekend in the series’ Pro class, while Dawson and Jewiss are in the Bronze category.
They are part of a large, 45-challenger grid, which also features runners in the Gold and Silver classes.
2 Seas are scheduled to hit the track today for a two-hour paid test session.
Tomorrow, Dawson and Jewiss will be part of a 40-minute test for Silver and Bronze drivers, before a pair of free practice sessions will be held for the full field in both daylight and night conditions.
The round’s first race will then take place on Saturday, flagging off at 10.05pm, Bahrain time, with its qualifying session held earlier in the day to determine the grid.
Race two follows on Sunday starting at 4.30pm, also Bahrain time, with a second qualifying being held hours prior to set the competitors’ starting positions.
2 Seas head into this weekend’s events having secured a sensational double podium in the previous round in Misano, Italy – also a sprint weekend.
Juncadella and Gounon finished second overall and just missed out on the victory by a mere 2.977 seconds, while Dawson and Jewiss took third in class while going 31st overall.
2 Seas, co-owned by Bahrain’s Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, are competing with their two-car entry for the full 2026 calendar of the GTWC Europe, which features both sprint and endurance meetings.
