Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), visited the Clinical Classification and Health Records Group at Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC).
Dr Mariam Athbi Al Jalahma, Chief Executive Officer of Government Hospitals, was present.
Lt Gen Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah underscored the importance of further strengthening the health information system and investing in the training of national professionals, highlighting the role of accurate medical data in supporting health planning and enhancing institutional performance.
He commended the group's efforts, noting that its achievements reflect teamwork and dedication to developing healthcare services in line with national priorities.
Lt Gen Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah reviewed the group's procedures for documenting and classifying health data, managing health records, and the role of clinical classification and medical coding in improving the accuracy of clinical data to enhance healthcare services and the quality of patient care.
He also received a briefing on efforts to upgrade electronic systems, improve data quality and privacy, and implement best practises and approved standards in medical coding and health records management.
Dr Al Jalahma said Government Hospitals places strong emphasis on developing clinical classification, medical coding, and health records services, while advancing digital transformation and health data governance to support patient safety and improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare services.
