A first-of-its-kind programme to train youngsters in survival skills in a variety of terrains has been launched in Bahrain.
Under the directives of National Security Adviser and Royal Guard Commander Lieutenant General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the junior edition of the Gadeha (Arabic: ‘You Can Do It’) programme training camp was inaugurated at Exhibition World Bahrain during the weekend.
The first training group comprises 500 participants out of 2,000 registered for the camp, who have been divided into three groups throughout the programme. They will take part in a comprehensive training experience, daily from 9am to 2pm, until September 3.
The camp is being held in a specially designed and fully equipped training arena featuring a range of fields aimed at developing practical survival and life skills.
Among the attractions is a shooting range where participants test their accuracy and concentration by engaging a range of targets, while a dedicated obstacle area challenges their physical fitness, endurance and agility.
A tactical training section focuses on investigation, problem-solving and decision-making skills, requiring participants to combine physical effort with critical thinking.
The camp also includes a water-based challenge course that tests balance, speed and precision, alongside a climbing zone packed with obstacles and elevated platforms.
The evacuation field simulates a rescue mission, and participants learn to overcome a series of obstacles to reach their destination.
In the supply section, youngsters will undertake challenges involving transporting military equipment between different points.
Gadeha also includes a children’s section for ages two to nine, featuring age-appropriate challenges, trenches and play facilities within a safe and supervised environment.
The camp includes several attractions, including a military museum, store and food court.
The venue opens to the public in the evenings, with wrestling displays, musical performances and a variety of interactive activities staged for citizens, residents and families.
The camp will continue over the coming weeks, aiming to build character, develop physical and mental abilities, and instill values of discipline, teamwork, and self-reliance, in addition to providing a comprehensive recreational and educational experience for all family members.
