A special three-day celebration of Bahrain’s seasonal harvest kicked off at LuLu Hypermarket, The Avenues-Bahrain yesterday, and continues over the weekend.
Bahraini Jumbo Loz Festival showcases the kingdom’s seasonal harvest of loz (almond fruit), figs and dates while supporting local farmers and homegrown brands.
“The festival reflects the pivotal role played by Bahraini farmers in advancing food security and environmental sustainability,” said LuLu Group International retail director Juzer Rupawala.
“Despite climatic challenges and limited agricultural land, local farmers continue to produce exceptionally high-quality crops through generations of expertise.
“By providing them with modern, sustainable retail opportunities, we aim to strengthen community support for local produce while encouraging greater production and innovation.”
The festival was officially inaugurated yesterday by Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture minister Wael Al Mubarak.
At its heart is Bahrain’s jumbo loz, known for its generous size and distinctive flavour, alongside creative offerings, including freshly hand-churned loz ice cream and loz slushies.
Locally grown figs and fresh dates are also on offer, alongside artisanal Bahraini honey, coffee, pickles and more.
The festival is located at Gate 6 of The Avenues-Bahrain and is open until tomorrow from 9am to midnight.
