An Al Ain civil court has ordered a collections officer to pay a woman AED50,000 (approx. BD5,100) in compensation after he exposed her financial situation to colleagues and customers. The officer also mocked the victim and swore at her while on duty.
The woman took legal action, demanding AED100,000 (approx. BD10,200) in compensation for moral and emotional damages, as well as for the breach of confidentiality regarding her account details with the company.
The court found the officer liable for damages and ordered him to pay her AED50,000.
