A Turkish MP has claimed that football legend Roberto Carlos has embraced Islam.
According to MP Ali Sahin, the 53-year-old former Real Madrid and Brazil defender converted around four weeks ago after meeting Sheikh Jihad Hammadeh in São Paulo.
Sahin shared the claim on X following Carlos's marriage to Moroccan football agent Souhaila Al Tahiri, posting photos from a ceremony attended by a local sheikh.
"Sheikh Jihad Hammadeh shared the good news that Roberto Carlos... had been in contact with him for a long time and visited him four weeks ago to recite the Shahada and embrace Islam," Sahin wrote.
The former Fenerbahçe star has neither confirmed nor publicly denied the statements.
Prior to his marriage, the World Cup winner had 11 children with seven different women and became a grandfather at 44.
