CYCLING – Bahrain Victorious Development Team rider Jan Michal Jackowiak claimed a sensational victory in the 54th GP Capodarco Comunita Di Capodarco, held in Italy.
The under-23 elite men’s one-day road race featured a course of 174.7 kilometres with a total of 162 riders from around the world on the start list.
Jackowiak, from Poland, was joined in the top three by teammate Kasper Borremans, from Finland, making for an incredible double podium after the latter secured third place.
Jackowiak got in the early breakaway and dropped all the other riders to finish the final 22km with a solo ride.
He completed the race distance in a total time of four hours nine minutes and 53 seconds – well ahead of the rest of the pack, with Italian runner-up Leonardo Vesco from Biesse-Carrera-Premac team a minute and 25 seconds behind and Borremans 1:37 back.
Jackowiak came away with his second triumph of the 2026 international cycling season after also winning the GP San Vendemiano in April.
Bahrain Victorious Development Team secured first place in the GP Capodarco Comunita Di Capodarco for the second year in a row, with Jackowiak following in the footsteps of Slovenian Jakob Omrzel, who triumphed in the 2025 edition of the race.
Jackowiak and Borremans led two other Bahrain Victorious Development Team members to leading positions on the final classification.
Hungarian Balint Feldhoffer was not far from a podium place in eighth overall after crossing the finish line 1:43 behind the victor, while Italian Leonardo Consolidani took 12th overall 1:50 from Jackowiak.
Santiago Basso, also from Italy, was the squad’s only non-finisher.
