Syrian President Ahmed Al Sharaa has made a Visa card payment in Damascus, marking a landmark step in the country's return to the global financial system.
President Al Sharaa carried out the electronic transaction at a local venue in Old Damascus, according to a video published online by Syria TV.
The development follows the US Treasury Department removing Syria from its list of state sponsors of terrorism, fulfilling commitments by the US administration to lift long-standing sanctions.
Syria had been on the state sponsors of terrorism list since 1979.
