Thousands of children streamed back into classrooms across Bahrain today, marking the official start of the new academic year (2026-2027) in government schools with excitement, warm welcomes and bright hopes for the months ahead.
The day was filled with joy and emotion as students were greeted by teachers, administrators and other staff members with roses, sweets and small gifts.
At some schools, senior officials personally accompanied children to their classrooms, holding their hands and offering reassurance, particularly for nervous first graders entering mainstream education for the first time.

Special programmes were also arranged for the littlest ones, many of whom were accompanied by equally anxious but proud parents witnessing this important milestone in their children’s lives.
Children with disabilities were also welcomed with care and support, guided to specialised classrooms prepared to meet their needs, ensuring that the new academic year began inclusively for all.
