A 10-week programme of artistic exploration and creative dialogue, which brought together Bahrain’s renowned and emerging artists, concluded recently at the Art Centre in Manama.
More than 200 artists participated in the first edition of the Almasyaf summer art show, organised by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities in collaboration with Bahrain Arts Society.
Over 10 weeks, Almasyaf brought together pioneering and contemporary artists alongside emerging talents, whose works reflected the diversity of local art, ranging from realism, expressionism and abstraction to modern and contemporary art practices and concepts, creating a visual dialogue across generations, practices and artistic styles.
The exhibition emphasised emerging talent and a new generation of artists, showcasing abstract compositions, overlapping fields of colour and more.
Beyond the exhibition, Almasyaf provided a platform for dialogue, learning and experimentation through panel discussions, workshops and educational and interactive activities.
Participants also learned about new artistic media and practices, with opportunities to express their creativity, experiment with different materials and explore a range of techniques and approaches through direct engagement with artists.
Specialised art workshops were also held as part of the exhibition, covering abstract art, sculpture-making, 3D textured art, rug tufting and Ebru water marbling.
These enabled participants to transform their ideas into artworks, experiment with a range of materials and techniques and further develop their skills and creative practice.
