An annual event to raise awareness of childhood cancer and show support for children battling the disease was recently held at The Avenues Bahrain.
The 13th Kids Are Gold Walking Day saw the participation of the Filipino Embassy, Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
Organised by the SMILE Initiative, the indoor community walk covered roughly three kilometres.
The Filipino delegation was led by Ambassador Gines Gallaga, and also included Deputy Head of Mission and Consul General Jose Garcia III and Vice Consul Charlie Prenicolas.
MWO and OWWA representatives, including labour attaché Dr Orville Ballitoc, OWWA welfare officer Juvilyn Gumabay, and SSS representative Dalynn Mendoza were also present.
Other notable attendees included Future Society for Youth chairman Sabah Al Zayani, Capital Governorate information and follow-up director Yusuf Lori and Japanese Ambassador Asako Okai.
The event served as a platform for diverse communities to unite in raising awareness and reassuring children with cancer and their families that they are not alone in their struggles.
In a statement, the Filipino Embassy reaffirmed its long-standing partnership with the SMILE Initiative through its participation in the annual walkathon, underscoring its commitment to supporting paediatric cancer patients and their families.
