Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Yasser Humaidan and Southern Governor Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa conducted a field visit to review progress on Al Hunainiyah Water Distribution Station project in Riffa.
The project forms part of ongoing efforts to develop and enhance water infrastructure and improve the efficiency and reliability of the distribution network to meet the area’s current and future needs and growing demand for water, Mr Humaidan said.
“It includes a ground-level reservoir with a capacity of 10 million imperial gallons, with space allocated for a similar future reservoir, as well as an elevated reservoir with a capacity of 1.25m imperial gallons to serve East Riffa. The project will also feature advanced remote monitoring and control systems. The BD14.5m project is expected to be completed and enter service in December 2027.”
The minister expressed appreciation to the Southern Governor for his continued follow-up on service projects and commitment to enhancing the quality of services provided to residents.
He affirmed the ministry’s commitment, in co-operation with EWA and the relevant authorities, to completing projects in accordance with the highest standards of quality and efficiency to enhance the sustainability of services provided to citizens and residents.
Shaikh Khalifa said the service and development projects underway in the Southern Governorate reflect the vision of His Majesty King Hamad and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to continue developing essential services.
He highlighted the governorate’s commitment to following up on residents’ needs in co-operation with the relevant authorities by strengthening direct engagement across all areas, assessing their needs and listening to their proposals and requirements.
He said direct engagement is a key component of the governorate’s work, enabling it to closely assess citizens’ needs and monitor the quality and standard of services provided to them.
During the visit, the minister and the Southern Governor were briefed on the completed phases of the project and future plans.
