The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court has convicted a teacher of physically assaulting four pupils at a private school, sentencing him to two years in prison.
The court ordered the defendant to be deported from the UAE upon completion of his jail term.
The teacher admitted to striking the students during questioning, claiming he acted to maintain discipline and stop them from disturbing the class.
However, CCTV footage recorded inside the classroom showed the teacher acting with excessive violence, inflicting injuries that prevented the children from carrying out their daily activities.
