GOLF – THE participation of His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa in the eighth Bahrain Amateur Open over the weekend was a source of pride for all the participating golfers.
This was highlighted yesterday by Bahrain Golf Association (BGA) president Major-General Ali bin Saqr Al Nuaimi, who expressed his gratitude to Shaikh Nasser for his continued support for golf in the kingdom.
Al Nuaimi conveyed his appreciation for Shaikh Nasser’s encouragement and guidance in the tournament, which contributed to its success in its organisation and technical standards, describing this edition as the best since its inception.
Al Nuaimi added that Shaikh Nasser’s participation had a positive impact on Bahrain’s national team players, which contributed to their strong results.
The BGA chief commended the directives and initiatives of SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, which are aimed at developing young Bahraini golfers and enabling them to achieve leading positions in tournaments. He said the results reflected the importance of Shaikh Khalid’s initiatives and his support for Bahrain’s golden generation of athletes.
Al Nuaimi noted that the BGA draws on these directives in developing its strategies and plans to prepare a promising generation of golfers capable of representing Bahrain at regional and continental levels.
He emphasised that corporate sponsorship was a key factor in the tournament’s success and development, commending the support of Ebrahim K Kanoo, the exclusive distributor of Lexus vehicles in Bahrain.
He expressed his appreciation to Ebrahim K Kanoo (Lexus), as well as to the other sponsors Banz Trading and Contracting, Bahrain Scrapmould Company, Al Salam Bank, Al Sharif Group, Crown Industries, and Bahrain Duty Free Shop Complex, noting that these partnerships reflected the private sector’s contribution to supporting and developing sport in Bahrain.
Al Nuaimi thanked the technical and organising committees for their efforts in managing the competitions and ensuring the tournament’s success. He commended the cooperation of the Royal Golf Club’s management in providing the course, facilities, and services needed to create suitable conditions for the participants.
Al Nuaimi noted that the BGA has begun preparations to organise the 18th King Hamad Trophy, scheduled to take place next month. He reaffirmed the BGA’s commitment to building on its organisational and technical achievements and further strengthening Bahrain’s position on the international golf scene.
