Kuwait's Interior Minister Shaikh Fahad Al Yousef has urged local business owners to treat all employees fairly and ensure salaries are paid on time regardless of nationality.
Speaking during a press conference addressing labour issues, the minister questioned business owners on the practice of prioritising Kuwaiti staff while delaying payments to expatriate workers.
Shaikh Fahad highlighted rising living costs and asked employers to show greater compassion towards expatriates whose wages have remained stagnant.
The minister emphasised that labour laws must be strictly enforced to ensure prompt salary payments, referencing a labour strike caused by unpaid wages.
Shaikh Fahad added that he has personally contacted employers across the country to verify that outstanding salaries are settled.
