Syria is evaluating options to join the Mecca Pact, according to Syrian Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Minister Asaad Al Shaibani. Speaking during the second plenary session of the 22nd International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Manama Dialogue 2026 yesterday, the Syrian minister revealed that there have been ‘some negotiations’ about Syria joining the Mecca Pact, which was signed between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan in August this year .
