Private companies could soon play a bigger role in operating Bahrain’s electronic identity services under urgent legislation unanimously approved by MPs yesterday.The bill would allow the government to outsource all or part of the operation of electronic identification services to private firms or other government entities, potentially opening up new commercial opportunities for Bahraini technology firms .
