MPs have backed a proposal to channel two per cent of the Future Generations Reserve’s assets annually into funding university scholarships, arguing that talented Bahraini students should not be denied their preferred degrees because of limited scholarship allocations.
The proposed law, approved during yesterday’s parliamentary session, would allow the allocation to continue for four years, with funding directed towards academic specialisations in demand in the labour market, including artificial intelligence, technology and cyber security .
