A Saudi woman has reportedly lost both her hands and a foot in a botched plastic surgery procedure.
Her mother has filed a lawsuit against the Arab doctor who performed the surgical suction procedure on her daughter at a medical centre in Riyadh.
The woman was admitted to the centre to remove a quantity of fat from her abdominal area but after the procedure, her health began to deteriorate.
The patient was then transferred to a government-run public hospital, where doctors amputated both her hands from below the elbow and one foot from the ankle.
Initial investigation showed that the doctor had performed the two-hour surgery in his own clinic, which is a flagrant violation of Saudi laws.
A probe committee set up by the Riyadh Private Health Affairs Directorate interrogated the doctor and recommended his suspension from work pending investigation.
The panel submitted a report to the health authorities who decided to revoke the doctor's medical license and scrap his name from the list of accredited practitioners.
