Jazan, Saudi Arabia: Ahmed Bashen, a Saudi father has set a ‘soldier's helmet’ as dowry for his daughter’s hand in marriage.
According to Islamic law, dowry is paid by the groom to his bride.
Bashen, a university researcher in the southern province of Jazan announced this offer on his twitter page.
The offer was made to recognise the important role played by the army that protects the kingdom.
Sada newspaper, an Arabic daily quoted Bashen, saying, he wants everyone to know that he has fixed a ‘soldiers helmet’ as dowry for his daughter hand in marriage.
Over the years, dowry amount has been on a high in Gulf countries.
