The Information Ministry denied banning UK-based daily newspaper Asharq Al Awsat from circulation on Kuwaiti territories, according to KUNA.
It issued a statement refuting the allegations and dismissing rumours posted on social media as being “untrue and contrary to the truth”.
The ministry stressed that it hadn’t imposed a ban on any of the Saudi private-owned daily editions in Kuwait.
“Ministry officials usually carry out routine procedures for newspapers that arrive in Kuwait from abroad," the statement explained.
Assistant Undersecretary for Press and Publications Khaled Al Rashidi pointed out that the newspaper is "being sold across shops, and has not been banned”.
