MORE than 50,000 people are expected to visit this year’s VIVA Winter Wonderland which opens today outside Al Aali Complex as part of the fourth edition of Shop Bahrain.
The 500sqm outdoor ice-skating rink is surrounded by an outdoor market featuring culinary and retail vendors.
The month-long family attraction will run until February 18, daily from 4pm to 10pm on weekdays, and 4pm to midnight on weekends.
It is organised by Motive8.
Entry to the winterland costs BD4 for adults and BD3 for children on weekdays and BD5 and BD4, respectively, on weekends.
VIVA Bahrain customers will receive a 500 fils discount.
“A couple of years ago our ice rink was a big success. Therefore, this year some of our partners, Al Aali Shopping Complex and VIVA Bahrain, thought to recreate it and make it better,” Shop Bahrain director Yousef Al Khan told the GDN.
“This event has a really cool feeling to it and is a great activity for families which is the main point of Shop Bahrain.”
“The whole event is over 2,500sqm including the ice rink which is 500sqm,” said organiser Motive8 managing director Wassim Farhoud.
An entertainment stage will spotlight local talent through a line-up of performances to be announced soon.
More than 20 vendors have already signed up to take part in the Winter Wonderland, among them Cinecafe, Coffee Republic and a virtual reality gaming booth.
“We are proud to provide our customers with the highest number of points when shopping during Shop Bahrain providing them with a greater chance to win valuable prizes,” said VIVA Bahrain’s chief executive Ulaiyan Al Wetaid.
During the month-long partnership, VIVA Bahrain customers will receive six points for every BD1 spent at all participating outlets.
Shop Bahrain is organised by Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority in co-operation with Tamkeen, Y K Almoayyed, VIVA Bahrain and Gulf Air.
