Muscat - Companies in Oman will soon require to provide mandatory health insurance for their employees, reported Times of Oman.
Oman’s Capital Market Authority (CMA) is currently drafting plans to roll out mandatory health insurance after the Council of Ministers reached a decision to make it a necessity for all residents and citizens in the country.
The authority stressed efforts to implement the compulsory system, in compliance with the decision of the Council of Ministers and in collaboration with the competent entities concerned with the implementation of the mandatory health insurance for the employees of the private sector, expatriates and visitors.
“The decision aims at meeting the needs of the employees of the private sector relating to coverage of basic health, to limit the high-cost employers of private sector will incur in view of the current economic situation in addition to providing quality services provided by the insurance companies and healthcare unit to the insured,” said the statement.
