A dazzling display of talent graced the stage at a sold out show last night.
Principal dancers from The Royal Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet and Mariinsky Theater, as well as international principal guest dancers, performed in the Star Gala at Bahrain National Theatre.
Organised by Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca), the one-night show was in celebration of World Tourism Day.
What a privilege to be able to watch such highly acclaimed dancers from prestigious dance companies on stage here in Bahrain.
A variety of pieces made for a truly impressive performance from every member of the cast.
Exquisite moves were enjoyed by all as the dancers demonstrated grace and poise, while flawless movements created stunning moving works of art.
One of my favourite pieces was The Dying Swan performed by Maria Yakovleva – it was so beautiful.
The pieces entitled Factum and Medea brought a modern contemporary edge to the show with raw dark emotion emerging from the performance.
Also, the opening of Part II of the Star Gala brought some humour to what would normally be a serious classical show, with Ballet 101 which gave the audience knowledge of some of the classic ballet movements.
The chemistry between the dancers was palpable through every single movement and step during what was a truly breathtaking evening, which was well received by the audience with huge rounds of applause.
While I thought the show was mesmerising, it is such a shame that people ignore theatre etiquette and not only disrespect the performers but other audience members who do not want to be distracted by talking or phone lights.
